putlocker Mirrors 2 (2010)
While driving on the road with his fiancée Kayla, Max Matheson has a serious car accident and they both die. However, Max is resuscitated and one year later he is an emotionally disturbed man with the guilty complex for the murder of his beloved fiancée and under psychological treatment with Dr. Beaumont. When his father Jack Matheson reopens the Mayflower Department Store in New Orleans, his security guard Henry Schow has an accident and Jack invites Max to be his replacement to help in his cure. Max accepts the job and his father introduces him to the store manager Keller Landreaux; the buyer Jenna McCarty; and the vice-president of operations Ryan Parker. Max has visions of a dead woman and he foresees the death of Jenna and Ryan in the mirror. Sooner Max finds that he has the ability to see Eleanor Reigns, an employee that is missing, and he contacts her sister Elizabeth Reigns to know details of her disappearance... Well, having just sat through this sequel to the otherwise fairly nice movie "Mirrors" from 2008, this movie was somewhat of a disappointing follow-up. First of all, I wonder if any of the people behind this movie ever saw "Stir of Echoes" (the movie with Kevin Bacon)? Because "Mirrors 2" seems like an outright copy of that movie, just set in a different setting. This movie isn all bad, don get me wrong. I think the acting was actually fair enough, although it is no award-winning performances, but people did well enough with what they had. However, the movie is lacking depths for the characters, because you never get to immerse yourself fully into the characters. And also the effects were good enough. And the apparition of Eleanor in the mirror was just disturbing enough to make her (at least) somewhat creepy to look at. The storyline and plot is not well-thought through. As I mentioned above, it seems to be a replica of "Stir of Echoes". Despite that, then the story moved on at a good enough pace, although it was predictable and there weren any surprise twists or moments that made you go wow. Now that I have seen it, I somewhat sit here with a feeling of his is the type of sequel that never really should have seen the light of day. This was like brewing soup off of an already cooked-out broth. Very weak storyline and an overall pointless movie. If you like the first movie "Mirrors", then I bet you will be disappointed with this sequel. But if you haven seen the first movie, then you might just like this one. However, for a nights worth of scared entertainment, your money is better spent on "Geoul Sokeuro" (aka. "Into the Mirror") a Korean horror movie from 2003. It outshines "Mirrors 2" by a light-years, and it is also better than the original "Mirrors" movie.

putlocker Carnage (2011)
Tells the story of two sets of parents who decide to have a cordial meeting after their sons are involved in a schoolyard brawl. Review: Carnage is Roman Polanski having tons of fun! You've probably read the plot summary, and then saw the cast and decided that it was worth seeing. It definitely is! It's a very short film, and that's a good thing because a setting and plot structure like this can't be too long or else the wit dies down. Thankfully it never did, and Carnage had me laughing really hard, and very often. The entire cast is great, and hard to rank (Reily is definitely the weakest if I had to choose). The cinematography is also brilliant, as it is focused on the right subjects at the right time. I don't expect this to be a big hit at the Academy Awards, but I do wish that Waltz, Winslet, and Foster get some attention, as well as the marvelous script. A minor little masterful film from Polanski. Also, great ending.
Director: Roman Polanski
Cast: Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz

putlocker The Three Musketeers (2011)
The hot-headed young D'Artagnan along with three former legendary but now down on their luck Musketeers must unite and defeat a beautiful double agent and her villainous employer from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war. Review: Surprisingly fun and action packed. And having just caught the Chris Odonnel version on cable this weekend, I've got to say that I'm glad they updated it! There is more humor, more action and it just looks bigger then any previous effort. Casting is rather interesting with a great number of solid actors playing the roles of the Musketeers themselves in MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray S. And Mads Mikkelsen is such a bad ass. I would have liked to seen more of him. Both Orlando and Milla are quite a lot of fun and definitely add a little bit of needed glamour and sex appeal. I'd recommend it 100% to anyone looking for a good fun film.
Director: Paul W.S. Anderson
Cast: Logan Lerman, Matthew Macfadyen and Ray Stevenson

putlocker Beastly (2011)
Charming, witty, and everything you could want in a teen flick, "Beastly" modernizes an age old tale, and it does it right. Neil Patrick Harris steals every scene he's in as Kyle's blind tutor Will, and Mary-Kate Olsen shines as Kendra the witch. The film's leads, Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens, lack in neither chemistry nor the acting department. While Vanessa Hudgens is clearly the weak link of the bunch, even her performance could have been much worse. The strange thing about Alex Pettyfer is that he always comes off as so sweet and sincere in his movies, but in real life he seems a tad full of himself. In all honesty, it saddens me. I'd be lying if I said I didn't wish he was like the characters he plays. That's actors for you, I guess. "Beastly" is utterly beautiful. In the beginning, Kyle is a shallow, egotistical jerk. But when he's served a piping hot slice of humble pie, compliments of Kendra, he becomes Hunter, the guy he he should have been all along. Perhaps one of the best parts of the movie was watching him try to woo Lindy. When his attempts to buy Lindy's love fail, Hunter stomps his feet and whines like a child. It's so adorable that you can't help but smile. With that said, there ARE some predicaments from which "Beastly" suffers. If you liked the book, you'll probably be disappointed to know that the library was ultimately traded in for the greenhouse. My heart nearly broke in half at this realization. However, I eventually got over that, as there is an even bigger problem: the ending. Simply put, the book's ending is 10 million times better. The ending in the movie is not nearly as powerful, and, at the end of the day, lackluster.
Director: Daniel Barnz
Cast: Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens and Mary-Kate Olsen

putlocker All Good Things (2010)
A love story and murder mystery based on the most notorious unsolved murder case in New York history. The original screenplay uses newly discovered facts, court records and speculation as the foundation for an imaginative spellbinding story of family, obsession, love and loss. ust watched on On Demand. I didn't think I liked Kirsten Dunst, but I was really impressed by her performance in this film. She goes from squeaky-clean and fresh-faced to disheveled, bleary-eyed and lost effortlessly. Watch. She really seems to age as the film progresses. I've always liked Ryan Gosling, whose rigid, dead-eyed manner is perfect for this role. They have great chemistry and it's a terrific story. Very strange, lots of twists to keep you on your toes. A must see if you like twisted love stories and suspense.
Director: Andrew Jarecki
Cast: Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst and Frank Langella

putlocker Casino Jack (2010)
Jack Abramoff was a very successful but very greedy Washington lobbyist who now sits in a federal jail serving out his 4 year prison term scheduled to released later this year. Director George Hickenlooper had the idea to tell his story and enlisted writer Norman Snider to put together the screenplay based on the facts of this true story. Hickenlooper spent 30 hours visiting Abramoff in prison to gather as much information as possible to add to their study of the historical documents upon which this movie was based. Oscar winning actor Kevin Spacey who plays Abramoff participated in one of these five jailhouse visits and he apparently hit it off quite well with the protagonist despite their being at opposite poles of the political spectrum. If you know the widely reported story of how Abramoff took excessive fees from multiple Indian tribes, was involved with shady business deals and paid off congressmen landing at least one in jail and causing Tom Delay majority leader of Senate to quit this position and his Senate seat, you may be a little bored as the details are played out. On the other hand, many viewers will be getting a great history lesson at the same time that they are seeing a very well done movie. Barry Pepper is sufficiently nefarious in looks and deeds as Michael Scanlon, Abramoff's partner who deserved more than he got for punishment. Jon Lovitz plays an almost completely serious role as a not so smart and crooked enough to end up in jail, business associate of Abramoff. Political junkies will love this movie. You can't help coming away from seeing it without wondering how can we let our political system continue to function without reigning in lobbyists. Hickenlooper related an incident, which he touches upon at the end of the film, where while in jail anticipating his release shortly before the upcoming 2010 elections Abramoff has expressed a desire to collaborate with the Democrats and reveal information that he knows about the Republicans in order to hurt them in this and future elections. While this film is scheduled for wide release and distribution prior to the November election, there is also another movie coming out at the same time about Abramoff, which is an actual documentary and may have the same name as this one. Instead of Kevin Spacey that one will star the real Abramoff.
Director: George Hickenlooper
Cast: Kevin Spacey, Barry Pepper and Jon Lovitz

putlocker King of the Avenue (2010)
This was one of those films that was great from start to finish. I have been a fan of Ryan Combs since the Straight out of Compton days and I have literally watched his growth from movies I found amusing, to films that I remember in my everyday life. King Of The Avenue is a fantastic character movie. You actually fell like your part of this crew of men who have one thing on there mind, becoming the king. It's fun to watch them elevate to the top crew, but really, that's when the movie starts. I know this is a independent, but I think this is one of the best roles I've seen Ving Rhames in. My girlfriend and I voted Ving Rhames as the last person we would want to run into in a dark alley, or a park on a nice summers day for that matter. Ving is awesome in this film.
Director: Ryan Combs
Cast: Ving Rhames, Simon Rex and Esai Morales
putlocker The Tournament (2009)
Every seven years in an unsuspecting town, The Tournament takes place. A battle royale between 30 of the world's deadliest assassins. The last man standing receiving the $10,000,000 cash prize and the title of Worlds No 1, which itself carries the legendary million dollar a bullet price tag. When I decided to check out "The Tournament" the expectations were moderate. Actually I expected it to be a pleasant DTV title with a couple of cool actors. What I got instead was a thrilling actioner that surpasses most of the theatrical releases of the same genre. The action is hyperkinetic and violent, and Scott Mann has undisputed Hollywood potential. The plot about the assassin tournament is clean and simple, a lot like "Taken" and when it comes to comparison between these two films, only advantage for "Taken" is Liam Neeson. "The Tournament" provides solid acting but it doen have such a potent star. Actually, if we consider its budget, "The Tournament" is really outstanding in terms of casting because it combines available theatrical-feature actors like Kelly Hu, Liam Cunningham,, Robert Carlyle and Ving Rhames with top DTV names like Scott Adkins. Scott Adkins potential was obvious ever since he first appeared in Isaac Florentine films and in "the Tournament" he is accompanied by Sebastien Foucan, the parkourist we remember from "Casino Royale". Fight scenes are marvelously staged, with great fight choreography, but also outstanding gunplay and vehicle stunts. When it comes to the sheer amount of action "The Tournament" gives you the most for bang for the buck. It is very hard to invent some new kinds of action set-pieces and choreographies but in a couple of scenes "Rhe Tournament" does that. Also, you must bear in mind that action is very violent and gory. The sheer amount of gore is comparable to Neill Blomkamps "District 9". Bloodletting is stylish and lavish and Scott Mann really has the guts (quite literally) to pull it off. I am surprised that this film failed to get theatrical release. I mean, its quite obvious that American distributors wouldn release because none of the stars are a draw in the US but I guess it shouldve worked quite well internationally. Writer Gary Young was lucky to move on into theatrical business with Matthew Vaughn production "Harry Brown". I hope Scott Mann will accomplish the same.
Director: Scott Mann
Cast: Ving Rhames, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Hu
putlocker Sus (2010)
With the election looming, '80s anti-fascist demonstrations back in the news and controversy over stop-and-search still raging, the release of ‘Sus' is auspicious. Based on Barrie Keefe's 1979 stage play, this claustrophobic, intense three-hander was inspired by the late '70s law that gave police officers the right to detain on suspicion anyone they saw fit, usually young black men. Betraying its theatrical origins, the film takes place in a single police interview room on election night, as thuggish Thatcherite cops Karn (Ralph Brown) and Wilby (Rafe Spall) attempt, by any means, to extract a confession from unemployed labourer Delroy (Clint Dyer) following the unexplained death of his wife. It's morally one-sided and the dialogue and acting tends towards the mannered and overblown – Spall in particular comes off like a ‘Fast Show' bad-cop parody at times. But overall this is a well structured, emotionally rigorous piece of filmmaking, and a timely reminder of the dangers of unchecked police power *Sus is a timely and dynamic piece of filmmaking from Rob Heath and is complimented by the acting performances of Clint Dyer, Ralph Brown and Rafe Spall who demand attention from the 1st minute of the film to the very last. Similar to Michael Caines performance in the film Harry Brown, Sus reeks of authenticity, a realness about the British society and the moral fabric which truly exists whether it be 1979 or 2010. A film for our times indeed.
Director: Robert Heath
Cast: Ralph Brown, Clint Dyer and Anjela Lauren Smith
putlocker The Loved Ones (2010)
In order to avoid a ghostly figure in the road, high school senior Brent Mitchell wraps his car around a tree, killing his father. Constantly confronted by his mother's emotional collapse after the accident, Brent escapes into a marijuana fueled world of loud metal music to block the pain and guilt. Dejected and out of sorts, he has a shot at happiness with his girlfriend Holly, a grounded, caring girl with drop dead good looks, a dream date for the high school prom. But his plans are thwarted by a disturbing series of events that take place under a mirrored disco ball, involving pink satin, glitter, syringes, nails, power drills and a secret admirer. Brent has become the prom king at a macabre, sadistic event where he is the entertainment. Its no surprise that Sean Byrnes relentlessly blood-soaked The Loved Ones won the Cadillac Peoples Choice Award at TIFFs midnight screening. The young Australian writer/director has since been hard-pressed for free time as many in Hollywood have been vying for his attention. Since the films premiere in Toronto, Byrne has been making frequent trips to LA and has been invited to speak with top execs. On this particular trip, Byrnes schedule has been tightly booked from morning until night on every single day thus far, including weekends. For those who haven seen The Loved Ones, it is an indie-horror treat. Lets just say, if Carrie from "Carrie" and Jigsaw from "Saw" "wanted to play a game," this film would be the perfect compromise between their approaches. What results is an anti-John-Hughes film that offers a cynical, frightening re-imagining of a high-school prom. The Loved Ones The film benefits from a cast which is in full-tune with its director. And unlike many horror films today, Byrnes even has something to say. The films bizarre title provokes us to think about the consequences of unrequited love and, more importantly, the real victims. Of course life would be easier if anyone we fell in love with immediately felt the same way. But in The Loved Ones, love is played as more of a cruel game for all characters. It may be a bit unusual for American moviegoers to see a horror film carried by actors who speak with Australian accents. Although Peter Jackson was able to earn instant cult-status with his blood-splasher Dead Alive through similar New Zealand accents. Jackson and Byrne already share some in common. Like Jackson, Byrne seems to be fascinated with shock-horror, fantasy, and even the supernatural. There is also an indie feel to Byrnes work reminiscent of Jacksons earlier low-budget films. So long as the young and talented Byrne is making movies, he just might have to get used to spending more time in Hollywood than at home.
Director: Sean Byrne
Cast: Xavier Samuel, Robin McLeavy and John Brumpton
